Help to address concerns about the water quality the waterways within the Catchment.
Participants will be involved in maintaining and enhancing four of the Lake Baroon Catchment Care Group’s priority project sites.
Participants will be undertaking maintenance works of walkways, track construction and fencing. Fencing will be constructed to keep hikers out of unsafe areas and also be undertaking bridge maintenance works, including painting and repairs.
Participants will learn to identify weeds, native and exotic species, learn seed collection and sowing methods and learn nursery techniques and also be involved in weed removal (manual methods, cut and stump poisoning and herbicide spraying), pruning and revegetation works (planting, watering, mulching). Community Support in the Rehabilitation of the Sarina Catchment - Mackay
Help to contribute to the protection, restoration and increase community awareness of our natural environment.
The purpose of the project is to implement on ground works to rehabilitate, protect &/or enhance areas of significant environmental value as well as to increase community awareness in relation to our natural resources.

Horseshoe Lagoon and Horseshoe Creek Riparian Rehabilitation - Townsville
Help secure a sustainable future for this key natural feature visible from the Bruce Hwy.
The purpose of this project is to expose the participants to the value and positive reinforcement of participating in a growing and concerted community effort.
The participants will learn work place health and safety requirements while undertaking the core duties of establishing vegetation on a heavily impacted riparian zone, removing a weed of national significance (Rubber Vine) using industry standards for herbicide application, and re-establishing native grass, vines and shrubbery on a popular littoral zone. As part of the process of achieving these outcomes the team members will develop work plans scheduling their weeks, prioritising their workload, and seeking minor projects within the local community. Revegetation will involve planning the choice of plant species, pre-planning the layout of the revegetation site, and follow-up monitoring of the established revegetation sites. Help increase the interest in this Reserve.
Part of the reserve has been set aside for the development of a natural environment area so as to promote community awareness, enjoyment and commitment to the preservation of the integrity of the local environment. It is this environmental component of the Reserve on which the project will focus.
The intervention of the activities proposed for this project will be timely and necessary to prevent further deterioration of the environmental values that would occur and provide an excellent resource to increase community capability and interest in maintaining a reserve for recreation and educational purposes. Congress Alukura Traditional Women’s Campground - Alice Springs
Help restore a sacred traditional and culturally significant area.
This is a project being undertaken by Congress Alukura for the benefit of traditional women.
The site is a sacred women’s birthing place that is culturally significant to the traditional women of the area. The project will provide an opportunity to educate younger women for future generations, and enhances the spiritual belonging of women utilising Congress Alukura.
This project will help to restore the site’s natural environment with endemic and medicinal species so as to exclude invasive weeds and increase the biodiversity and habitat for local birds and animals. It will provide a rich, private and inviting setting for all young women to camp while learning and practicing traditional indigenous women’s ceremonies, medicine, health and birthing. It has also been created to encourage the return of women having traditional births on site. Take a step back in time and bring the past to today.
This community is one of the earliest settlements in the Huon Valley.
The activities participants will undertake include minor repairs to heritage buildings, interior and exterior painting, landscaping of grounds (according to plans supplied by the organizations responsible) and researching historical information about the buildings in the context of Cygnet’s history. In conjunction with the Museum, interpretive displays on the projects will be prepared and put on exhibition in the Museum. In the Community Garden the participants will establish raised beds for vegetable growing, pathways for access and additional beds suitable for access by those with disabilities.
Under appropriate supervision, seasonal planting and harvesting as well as pruning fruit trees will also be part of the day to day activities in the Community Garden. Design and production of signage for all parts of the project will be included in the activities, and signage will then remain on site. Warrawee Shale Mine Heritage Development - Launceston
Let’s go exploring.
A recent bushfire at the Warrawee Forest Reserve in Latrobe has exposed a range of archaeological features associated with the shale-mining industry of the early 1900's.
The aim of this project is to develop an interpretive trail that will take visitors on a journey through the past and reveal some of the fascinating artefacts associated with this forgotten industry.
The project will include clearing of existing tracks to facilitate access to heritage sites, development of a picnic area with a shelter for recreational / educational use and the installation of interpretive signage and old photographs to tell the story of the shale-works that was once a thriving industry. Tracks will be developed to a safe walking standard and measures taken to prevent vehicular access to the reserve in order to prevent illegal woodcutting and rubbish dumping. Mt Arthur Centre– Burrowing Crayfish Habitat Rehabilitation - Launceston
Help increase the knowledge of a local inhabitant.
The local community group is keen, not only to protect the Mt Arthur mud burrowing crayfish species but, to enlighten the local community & school of the Mt Arthur mud burrowing crayfish and the importance of maintaining biodiversity to protect our natural resources.
This will be achieved by protecting and restoring the habitat of the crayfish through establishing riparian fences, planting native species after removal of weeds, establishing fully formed walking tracks and boardwalks connecting existing and newly discovered sites and providing interpretive signage to educate visitors. Imagine being involved in a pilot project for Indigenous land management in the north east of Victoria & southern NSW.
This will be the first all Indigenous team put together which will have projects based on community consultation and preference. The purpose of this project is to address both environmental and culturally significant issues within the area. It is also a vision that this program will enable the partner agencies to develop a strategy that ensures successful Indigenous Green Corps projects for the future.
This project aims to not only provide employment and training for Indigenous youth but through community driven projects encourage a greater interaction between Indigenous youth, parents and elders within the community.

Werribee Open Range Zoo South West Boundary Shelter Plantation
Help build enduring relationships between people and wildlife for a future in which humans live in balance with the natural world, and purpose at the Werribee Zoo.
The Werribee Zoo is located on over 220 hectares of riverine floodplains and volcanic grasslands, where animals from the grasslands of Australia, Africa and Asia live in conditions as close as possible to those they encounter in their natural habitats.
This project will include planting vegetation along the 1.6 km boundary, which will create a weather buffer and visual screen to enhance animal enclosure space for zoo animals and visitors. It will also provide an important native habitat corridor running alongside the recreational bike track of the newly proposed Werribee Regional Park between Werribee State Gorge and the Werribee Tourist Precinct. Biodiversity Links out West, Bacchus Marsh
Improve the local area for the wedge tailed eagles and leave a positive and long lasting mark on the landscape.
Grow West is focussing upon creating a network of native vegetation links and biodiversity corridors across the landscape to connect patches of remnant vegetation on private land with the Werribee Gorge State Park, Lerderderg State Park, and Brisbane Ranges National Park.

Bellarine Bayside - Coastal Restoration Portarlington –St Leonards
Let’s help repair what has been damaged along the Bellarine foreshore.
The foreshore suffers from a wide range of environmental issues such as weed invasion, loss of indigenous vegetation, dune erosion, inappropriate public access and the results of previous poor coastal management activities. In contrast to the southern Bellarine coastline, there are currently no Coast Action / Coastcare groups to facilitate and assist in coastal protection, community awareness raising and sustainable coastal recreation management. Coastal habitat protection and enhancement team working in the City of Warrnambool
Enhance your skills and improve your prospects of employment
Invasive weeds threaten significant native habitat in riparian zones, scattered sections of native vegetation are becoming isolated from other sites thus decreasing diversity and sites of indigenous significance are becoming increasing threatened by human disregard.
Participants will be involved in revegetation and indigenous plant identification, environmental weed identification and removal techniques, timber preparation and construction techniques, boardwalk construction, biological control education and flora and fauna surveys.
