HP

In 2007, Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Conservation Volunteers joined forces teamed up to bring technology and the environment closer together in a positive way.

The affiliation was a result of HP’s global commitment to the environment and recommendations from Booz and Co who advised CV to apply greater resources to information technology to support their four business objectives:

  • Attract new volunteers and retain existing volunteers
  • Improve efficiency of processes
  • Build capacity to grow and keep pace with development and the needs of the community/environment
  • Build eco-resilience – management of information
HP has supported Conservation Volunteers through the:expansion of Conservation Volunteers’ storage capacity and security allowing considerable power, cost and time savings with HP BladeSystem technology;
  • mobilization of the Conservation Volunteers’ team nationally using HP notebooks and printers; and
  • implementation of HP desktop technology to support video conference facilities

In 2008 and 2009, HP and Conservation Volunteers launched and delivered a sustainable schools program called the HP Schools’ Future Program.  The program combined community volunteering and environmental awareness and aimed to promote and educate sustainable practices within schools, encompassing a vision that seeks to empower people of all ages to assume responsibility for a sustainable future. The program supported 35 schools through the practical assistance of teams of conservation volunteers and also provided versatile HP Compaq 2710p notebooks for practical use both inside and outside.
