Course in Conservation Volunteer Management
Conservation Volunteers is a Registered Training Organisation offering a number of training programs specific to the conservation industry.
The Course in Conservation Volunteer Management is a nationally accredited course that addresses key issues in field-based volunteer management, including safety processes, site supervision and the motivation and management of volunteers.
Who should do the course?
Managers, supervisors and team leaders with responsibilities for managing
teams of people working in conservation will benefit from this training
course. Participants in the course may be working for a Catchment Management
Authority or other regional body, local authority or for a Landcare
or another local community environmental group.
The course has four core units of competency and one elective.
Core units
- Implement and monitor the enterprise OHS program
- Coordinate worksite activities
- Apply the principles and issues of volunteering
- Develop Teamwork
Electives to choose from
- Apply Advanced First Aid
- Supervise work routines and staff performance
- Work in an Indigenous community
- Supervise natural area restoration works
- Train small groups
The Course in Conservation Volunteer Management involves approximately 300 hours. However students are able to apply for recognition of current competency. Conservation Volunteers has a flexible approach to delivering this course.
At the completion of the course students will be awarded a certificate in the Course in Conservation Volunteer Management as well as a Statement of Attainment. Units of competency completed can be articulated into other courses eg Certificate IV or Diploma in Conservation and Land Management.
