Moderate, selected walks are between 40 minutes - 1.5 hours. Participants must be able to climb a short ladder at the Island jetty and walk up and down the Island's steep and rocky terrain.

Program Location

Montague Island Nature Reserve is a gazetted Nature Reserve that holds significant biodiversity and cultural values. The Island is located 9 kilometres off shore from Narooma.

Accommodation

The Montague Island Heritage Listed Guesthouse provides accommodation for up to 12 guests. These beautifully appointed facilities have been restored in Edwardian style and provide sweeping ocean views, five bedrooms, two shared bathrooms (shower and toilet facilities), lounge, reading and TV room, dining and kitchen area. The accommodation was once the original head lighthouse keeper's quarters. Bed linen, bath towels and soap are provided. View gallery - coming soon

Contribution To Conservation

This trip supports wildlife conservation and research on Montague Island Nature Reserve. You will have the opportunity to participate in penguin monitoring and contribute to the long term protection of the Australia's third largest Little Penguin Colony. Download more information on the penguin monitoring

Program Travel

Transfer to Montague Island is on a fully surveyed and licensed passenger boat. The Island is 9kms off shore with a travel time of approximately 30 minutes. Sea conditions are frequently choppy. Tour departures may vary due to sea conditions. In some instances tours may be cancelled or delayed which may include a delayed departure to and from the Island. In the event of a tour being cancelled due to sea conditions a full refund will be provided.

Itinerary

Day 1 Boat travel to Montague Island and viewing of the resident seal colony. Explore the island and operating lighthouse on a guided tour and in the evening watch the little penguins coming ashore. LD

Day 2 A day to explore Montague Island with your National Parks and Wildlife Service guide and an opportunity to assist with little penguin surveys. BLD

Day 3 Enjoy your last exploration of the Island before our boat departure to Narooma. B
