Conservation experience

The Conservation Experience is an amazing way to enjoy the beautiful Australian or New Zealand environment while making a contribution to its practical conservation. You volunteer as part of a team and get to meet people from across Australia and the world.

The Conservation Experience runs in weekly blocks, starting and finishing on Fridays. Most volunteers choose packages of 4 weeks or longer. Volunteers can choose to start from any of CV's offices in Australia or New Zealand (25 locations around Australia / 2 in New Zealand). Packages include all of your food, accommodation and project related transport, as well as a minimum of 5 days volunteering on conservation projects (based on a one week package).

You are placed in teams of up to 10 volunteers on projects in urban, regional and remote locations. Team Leaders provide training on-site. Activities include:

  • Tree planting
  • Walking trail construction
  • Wildlife surveys
  • Seed collection
  • Weed control
  • Conservation fencing
  • Heritage restoration

We have more than 2,500 projects around Australia and New Zealand each year. View an example of the types of projects available from any of CV's offices.
