How many Green Ambassadors will be chosen?

Five Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassadors between the ages of 16 and 30 will be chosen; one in each of the 5 categories: At Home; At Work; At School, College or University; On the Road: and In the Community. There will also be 5 runners up, one in each category.

When do applications close?

Applications close Friday 24 October and the 5 Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassadors and 5 Runners up will be announced 24 Novembers 2008.

Can I nominate for more than one category?

Nominations can be made for the same person in more than one category, however separate nominations will need to be submitted i.e. if you are nominating the same person for two categories you will need to complete a nomination form in each separate category.

How will my application be judged?
-
Your application will be assessed against a selection of criteria related to the questions on the application form. Please include all relevant information in response to the questions so that the judges are able to get a good picture of your qualities as a Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassador.

Who are the judges?
-
A panel of three judges will assess your application. Two of the judges will come from Conservation Volunteers Australia and the third judge from the Commonwealth Bank, and each of the judges have extensive experience in the environment industry and managing youth volunteer programs.

If I am chosen as a Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassador category winner what will the experience involve?

If selected as a Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassador Category winner you will receive a place on Conservation Volunteers Australia’s national award winning tour (Qantas Australia Tourism Awards 2007) run in partnership with NSW National Parks and Wildlife travelling to Montague Island off the NSW south coast.
One of Australia’s best kept secrets, Montague Island Nature Reserve is a breathtaking wildlife sanctuary situated 9 kilometres off Narooma, on the south coast of New South Wales. A nature lover’s paradise, the island is teeming with wildlife. Watch thousands of seals as they crowd the rocks and play in the crystal blue waters, tour the island with your National Parks and Wildlife Service Ranger, visit the island’s operating lighthouse and discover 125 years of lighthouse history.
Your return airfares are included in this prize (if required) as are meals, boat transfers and 3.5 star accommodation.
In addition, you will receive a digital camera to record your experience and a twelve month membership of Conservation Volunteers Australia.

If I am chosen as a Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassador Category Runner Up what will the experience involve?

If selected as a Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassador Runner Up you will have the opportunity to participate as a volunteer on a five day conservation experience with Conservation Volunteers Australia.
You may choose a conservation project in your local area or travel to another region (although this will be at your own cost). On the project all travel and food expenses will be covered. Please check out our website to see the kind of projects we run in your area www.conservationvolunteers.com.au

What time commitment does it need from me?

As a Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassador Category Winner you will be required to take your 5 day 4 night Naturewise Ecotour to Montague Island within 12 months of the award.
As a Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassador Category Runner up, you will be required to be available for a five day / four night conservation project which you need to take within 12 months of the award.
As an Ambassador or Runner Up you also need to be available for media interviews or photo opportunities to promote your success to your community.

Who can I put down as my referee?

If you would like to include a referee it should be someone who isn’t related to you, but who knows you well, and in particular your environmental efforts. For example, t his could be a member of a Landcare group, your teacher, club organiser, manager, neighbour, or sports coach.

Who is eligible to enter?

Entry is open to all Australian residents aged between 16 and 30 years of age as of the 08 September, 2008. A maximum of one application per individual per category may be submitted.

When do applications close?

Applications close at 5pm Friday 24 October, 2008 (5pm AEDT) and the 5 Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassadors and 5 Runners up will be announced 24 November 2008.

Can I include photos in my application?

No, we cannot accept photos, graphic images or attachments as part of your application.
