Terms & Conditions
- Information on how to enter the Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassadors Promotion (Promotion) forms part of these Terms and Conditions. Any entry not complying with these Terms and Conditions is invalid. Entry into the Promotion and acceptance or receipt of a prize by a winner or by the parent(s) or guardian(s) of a winner is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
- The Promoter is the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, (ABN: 48 123 123 124) of Level 3, 48 Martin Place, Sydney NSW 2000 13 22 21 (Promoter).
- The Promotion commences on Monday 15 September 2008 at 08:00 (Sydney time) and concludes on Friday 24 October at 17:00 (Sydney time) (Promotion Period).
- Entry into the Promotion is open to individuals who satisfy the following eligibility requirements (Eligibility Requirements):
- are resident of Australia;
- are not directors or employees of the Promoter or the Promoter’s related entities directly involved in the Promotion and all companies and agencies associated with the Promotion (as determined by the Promoter) and their immediate family members (spouse, parent, sibling or child);
- be aged between 16 and 30 years of age as at the commencement of the Promotion Period; and
- have not previously entered the Promotion.
- To enter, you must satisfy the Eligibility Requirements and during the Promotion Period:
- Log onto www.commbank.com.au/greenambassadors and register your details including (but not limited to) your full name, postcode, phone number, e-mail address;
- In the registration process, nominate one of 5 categories that you are entering – Home, Work, School/Tafe/College/University, On The Road, In The Community (Categories); and
- Answer all application questions.
- Chance plays no part in winning this Promotion. Entries will be judged by representatives from the Commonwealth Bank and Conservation Volunteers Australia on their originality, creativity and commitment to environmentally sustainable living from the valid entries received during the Promotion Period. The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The winner will be notified by telephone and email on 10 November 2008. By the acceptance or receipt of the prize by the winner or the winner’s parent(s) or guardian(s), that winner or the winner’s parent(s) or guardian(s) agrees to the winner’s name and suburb being published online at www.conservationvolunteers.com.au/greenambassadors on Friday 14 November 2008.
- There will be five major prize winners (“Ambassadors”). The valid entry judged as being the most outstanding in each Category will each win the Major Prize as follows:
- A Naturewise eco-tour to Montague Island Reserve, on the south coast of New South Wales. This 5 day / 4 night package includes 2 nights accommodation on Montague Island Nature Reserve and 2 nights accommodation in Narooma (4 star hotel accommodation).
- Coach transfers to Montague Island from Sydney
- Return economy airfare to Sydney if the winner resides more than 200km from the Sydney CBD
- A digital camera to record your experiences
- A Certificate of Recognition as a national Winner of the Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassador program
- 1 year Membership of Conservation Volunteers Australia
- The next valid entry judged as being the most outstanding in each Category will each win the Runner-Up Prize as follows:
- A 5 day ‘Conservation Break’ volunteering experience with Conservation Volunteers Australia
- A digital camera to record your experiences
- A Certificate of Recognition as a national Runner Up of the Commonwealth Bank Green Ambassador program
- 1 year Membership of Conservation Volunteers Australia
- The total prize pool value is up to AUD15,000 (including GST), based on the recommended retail value as provided by the supplier and is correct at the time of printing. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in prize value.
- By accepting the prize, the winner agrees that any other incidental costs associated with accepting or using the prize, unless otherwise stated, will be the sole responsibility of the winner. Prize must taken within 12 months of notification of the prize, otherwise the prize is forfeited.
- The winner may be required to provide a credit card imprint or a cash deposit at the time of accommodation check in, for incidental charges. Once accommodation vouchers are issued they are non-refundable.
- The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The winner or the winner’s parent(s) or guardian(s) accept the prize “as is” and acknowledges that the Promoter accepts no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from the receipt of the prize. The winner or the winner’s parent or guardian should seek advice from the Australian Tax Office or his or her own taxation adviser or independent financial adviser.
- Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash. The Promoter will use its best endeavours to provide the prizes listed. If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to State and Territory Regulations.
- The Promoter will arrange for delivery of the prizes within Australia after the winning entry is determined, by mutual agreement with the winner or the winner’s parent or guardian. Once the prize has left the Promoter’s premises, the Promoter takes no responsibility for prizes damaged, delayed or lost in transit.
- The Promoter accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries. Incomplete, ineligible or incomprehensible entries will be deemed invalid. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entry that is not in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. The cost of accessing the promotional website will be dependant on the entrant’s individual Internet Service Provider.
- In the event that for any reason whatsoever the winner does not take an element of the prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of that element of the prize.
- Should an entrant’s contact details change during the Promotional Period, it is the entrant's responsibility to notify the Promoter. A request to access or modify any information provided in an entry should be directed to Promoter.
- If the winner cannot be contacted within four (4) days of 10 November 2008, that winner will forfeit the prize and the Promoter will determine the next winning entry on 14 November 2008 from the valid entries entered in the Program Period and that entrant will be awarded the unclaimed prize. If the original winner of a prize is from South Australia, their claim will be subject to clause 37 of the Lottery and Gaming Regulation 1993 9SA). The winner of the re-draw will be notified by telephone or in writing on 17 November and published in The Australian on Friday 21 November 2008.
- By accepting the prize, the winner agrees for the winner to participate in and co-operate as required with all reasonable media editorial requests relating to the prize, including but not limited to, being interviewed and photographed, filmed and/or chaperoned throughout the duration of the prize. The winner further agree to permit the winner’s image and/or voice, as recorded, photographed or filmed during the winner’s participation in the prize to appear in connection with both the Commonwealth Bank Australia and/or Conservation Volunteers Australia or the advertising or marketing thereof, in any media whatsoever throughout the world and the winner will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
- It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner must comply with all the conditions of use of the prize and the prize supplier’s requirements including that the winner sign (or have their parent/guardian sign on their behalf if they are less than 18) an indemnity and exclusion of liability (provided by the Promoter) in favour of the parties involved in the Promotion prior to receiving any part of the prize. If the indemnity form provided by the Promoter is not signed within the time requested by the Promoter, the winner will not be able to receive any part of the prize.
- If for any reason this Promotion is not capable of running as planned (including but not limited to) infection by computer virus, bugs, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Promotion, the Promoter may take any action that may be available including cancelling, terminating, modifying or suspending the Promotion. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process.
- The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, (including but not limited to) any injury or damage to participants or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in or down-loading any materials in this Promotion.
- To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter, their related entities, and its and their respective directors, officers, employees and agents, will not be liable for any personal injury, loss or damage, whatsoever which is suffered or sustained (including but not limited to indirect or consequential, financial or other loss) to or by the winner or his or her accompanying guests in connection with the winner’s participation in the Promotion or the receipt of any prize by the winner or the winner’s parent(s) or guardian(s).
- All entries become the sole property of the Promoter. The Promoter collects your personal information so that it may process your entry, administer this Promotion and contact you regarding information on products or services that may be of benefit or interest to you. If you provide the Promoter with incomplete or inaccurate information or do not satisfy the Eligibility Requirements, your entry will be void. The Promoter may communicate personal information to external providers and organisations to which it may outsource certain functions. You may access and correct your information by contacting the Privacy Officer, Customer Relations, Commonwealth Bank Group, Reply Paid 41, NSW 2001, by calling the Promoter on 13 22 21 or by visiting any branch of the Promoter. - These Conditions of Entry shall be governed by the laws of New South Wales and each entrant agrees to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New South Wales courts.
