Heritagecare
Are you passionate about Victoria’s heritage places, objects and collections? Would you like to do something to help conserve these special heritage places for everyone to enjoy?
Heritagecare offers you the rewarding opportunity to be part of a team of volunteers working on heritage projects across Victoria.
Heritagecare is a partnership between Conservation Volunteers and Heritage Victoria, funded by the State Government’s heritage strategy - ‘Victoria’s Heritage: Strengthening our communities’. Heritagecare offers you a number of opportunities for getting involved, designed to suit your interest and availability:
Hands on Heritage projects
These are one-off projects that mean you can volunteer just for a day or for a week at a specific heritage site.
Examples of Hands on Heritage project locations include:
- Anderson Mill, Smeaton
- Carranballac Homestead
- Geelong Woolscour Museum
- Frogmore Farm Heritage Property
Community Stewardship projects
These are projects that run for six months; you can volunteer two days a week on a heritage project in your local community.
Examples of Community Stewardship projects include:
- Building and Garden restoration at Buda House, Castlemaine
- Collection management and artifact labeling and cataloguing at the Heritage Victoria laboratory, Abbotsford Melbourne
- Digital heritage projects that involve digital photography to capture and record heritage precincts for local government
- Assisting collection and site management activities in community museums.
