RACV Tracks and Trails

The RACV Tracks and Trails program will support 8 projects across Victoria.

Through this program Conservation Volunteers in partnership with RACV will support a broad cross section of Victorian communities and valuable environments.  Tracks and trails are an important conservation priority that:-

  • Help minimize the impact on water quality from sediment run-off and damage to adjacent vegetation
  • Help ensure that habitat for many endangered species of flora and fauna is protected
  • Provide the link between awareness and action when people interact with the environment in pursuit of recreation
  • Promote tracks as a tourism resource for rural and regional communities
  • Provide volunteers with opportunities for healthy, safe and managed activities

Typical activities that Conservation Volunteers will manage volunteers in include track delineation,  installation of interpretive signs and bollards for traffic control, re-vegetation, re-surfacing, track clearing, and construction of steps, boardwalks and retaining walls.

Examples of projects include:

The trail is jointly managed by PV, DSE and the Bendigo City Council, however the RACV funded tracks & trails project will focus on PV managed land.

Located on the edge of Mildura it has helped make the district a favourite getaway for Victorians.

Tyers State Park Walking Trail, Traralgon

Tyers Park is an area of 1810 hectares of forest in the foothills to the north of the Latrobe Valley. Its diversity of wildflowers and the abundance of its bird life make it a favourite destination for naturalists.
