Boral Living Green
Boral Living Green is a partnership between Boral and Conservation Volunteers Australia. As one of Australia’s premier building and construction materials companies, Boral supports environmental conservation and the need to preserve Australia’s heritage.
Living Green brings Boral employees, their families and other stakeholders together to create, enhance and celebrate green places in the communities in which Boral operate, together with local community groups and volunteers. Many Boral operations also involve their staff in tree planting, weeding and clean up projects on their own sites.
The aim of Living Green is to strengthen the relationship between individual Boral operations and the local communities in which they operate, and to further develop an environmental ethic amongst Boral employees.
The vital support of Boral and the Living Green Program enables Conservation Volunteers to create projects that will ensure that communities around Australia can enjoy their favorite green spaces in years to come.
Since 2005 Living Green has assisted in the restoration and preservation of the habitat of the:
- Powerful Owl, Victoria
- Western Swamp Tortoise, Western Australia
- Seabird recovery, South Australia
Teams of volunteers have achieved the following:
- Financial value of volunteer work $122,880
- Grasses, shrubs and trees planted 4,705
- Area re-vegetated and weeded 36,725m2
- Seed collected 23 kg
