Partners in Conservation
Meeting the sustainability challenge is a key element of corporate social responsibility.
We need to respond to climate change, pressure on our natural resources and changing community expectations. Responding to the challenge is not easy; so many leading companies in Australia have become Partners in Conservation with Conservation Volunteers Australia. Together we meet the challenge and demonstrate real commitment to sustainability.
We invite you to join with us.
Credibility – you will be partnering with Conservation Volunteers, Australia’s leading practical conservation organisation.
Since 1982 we have been working on Australia’s most vital environmental projects – involving people on the ground. Our credibility is demonstrated by numerous awards including the Australian Financial Review’s Corporate Partnership of the Year, multiple Banksia Awards, the United Nations Global 500 Honour Roll and the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships.
Our track record in partnering with Australia’s leading corporate citizens is demonstrated by our successful partnerships with BHP Billiton, Toyota, Shell, Commonwealth Bank, Rio Tinto, Vodafone, NAB, Boral and many other national , state and regional based companies.
Most importantly our practical approach has left a legacy of millions of trees planted, thousands of hectares protected and enhanced and hundreds of kilometers of waterways improved. We work in accordance with latest best practice strategies on local regional and national priority issues and are a trusted resource for federal, state and local natural resource management bodies.
Real outcomes– your support allows us to make a measured, appropriate and sustainable difference in the areas of water quality, biodiversity or climate change.- Water – Protecting and enhancing the quality of our waterways and wetlands. For example, your support will enable us to engage in works to stabilise fragile river banks by planting riparian species.
- Biodiversity – Committing to projects that support the web of life and protect our unique plants and wildlife. As an example, your support could enable us to conserve the habitat of rare and threatened species such as the yellow-footed rock-wallaby, bilby and northern hairy-nosed wombat.
- Climate Change – We are developing a range of initiatives to assist business and individuals to reduce their impact on the environment. These include the creation of a network of ‘Carbon Forests’ on which we establish native trees and shrubs that not only support our wildlife but also offset greenhouse gas emissions.
Flexibility- you can choose the focus of your involvement in our Partners in Conservation program by asking us to direct your support into the area most relevant to you.
- Does your business utlise a significant amount of water? Then perhaps you will ask us to direct your investment in practical on-ground action to improve the health of water catchments.
- Are you concerned with helping Australia’s threatened and endangered plants and animals? Then nominate biodiversity as your area of interest.
- Is addressing global warming high on your agenda? Your partnership contribution can be directed to our climate change initiatives.
Participation – you will have access to a suite of alternatives aimed at involving your staff and enriching their workforce experience. Options ranging from volunteering opportunities to payroll-giving can be provided.
- You can place your employees in staff volunteering opportunities on more than 2000 environment projects each year across Australia.
- We make staff volunteering easy by providing a specific website where you can search and book onto conservation projects that suit your interests and availability.
- Pending availability, up to five staff at a time can book onto any project in Australia. We can also organise special days just for your staff.
