Shell Coastal Volunteers
Shell Coastal Volunteers is Australia’s largest and most successful practical conservation program with a coastal zone focus.
Shell has made a commitment to support the program for a further three years, taking its support through to 2006 and injecting nearly $2 million into the program.
Shell and Conservation Volunteers Australia have already achieved some great results over the past three years. With more than 13,000 volunteer days, 80 kilometres of beach cleaned, more than 490,000 sq m of area revegetated, 220 kg of seed collected and nearly 60 flora/fauna survey days completed.
This partnership is an example of how environmental conservation can be achieved through a mix of corporate skill and resources and the passion and energy of volunteers. The coastal zone is the major beneficiary.
By helping local groups to remain sustainable, the effects of Shell Coastal Volunteers will be felt long into the future, and long after the contribution of the volunteers has ended.
