Community Climate Change Forums
Shell and Conservation Volunteers are presenting a series of Community Climate forums, bringing together concerned local residents, land managers, academics, corporate organisations, government representatives and community leaders on a regional basis.
The forums will seek to provide up to date information to communities about the likely impacts of climate change in their region and the steps they can take to manage those impacts. The forums provide a chance to present views and be involved in facilitated discussions that allow us to end the day with agreed principles and potential actions. The forums involve an initial session of context setting followed by presentations from key local stakeholders. Attendees then focus on drilling down into local issues in a facilitated session.
The initial forum in Gladstone featured 40+ representatives of the government, community and corporate sector. Successive forums have been held in the Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Adelaide with up to 80 attendees learning about, and contributing to, local Climate Change adaptation measures. The next forum is due to be held in Broome in March.
