Focus on Community Groups Workshops
Toyota Community Workshops 2010 and 2011.
Conservation Volunteers Australia in partnership with Toyota Australia is proud to offer a series of free volunteer management workshops.
Conservation Volunteers and Toyota Australia have worked in partnership for a number of years – together we are working to recruit, recognise and reward volunteers. Through the partnership more than 1000 volunteers have achieved the formal qualification, the Certificate I in Active Volunteering.
This free workshop series is designed to share experiences and expertise with volunteer managers and coordinators (paid and unpaid) from all community groups and volunteer organisations.
Each workshop runs for half a day and there are a range of topics.
1. Volunteer recruitment and retention
Volunteering is strong and a necessary part of the Australian community. It is important to stay relevant and up to date with strategies for communication and involvement of volunteers.
This workshop will explore volunteers’ needs and motivation to be part of your organisation. We will review what works in getting more people involved in community organisations and activities. The workshop will include an organisation self review and discussion of successful volunteer recruitment and retention strategies.
You will learn a range of strategies and also gain new perspectives in volunteer recruitment and engagement. An essential workshop for community groups developing or changing their volunteer recruitment and retention systems.
2. Team development with volunteers
“Teamwork is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.”
Volunteer programs frequently require teams to achieve outcomes. Putting people together and hoping that they become a committed team is a high risk and flawed strategy. Volunteer organisations and leaders need to be intentional and planned in the process of forming and maintaining volunteer teams. A typical team has nine distinct roles that need to be fulfilled to be highly productive and cohesive. Understanding each role helps team members understand each other better and promotes appreciation of different abilities.
This workshop will address the essential roles within a team and assist in identifying the right person for each role. Teams go through phases before they reach maturity. The workshop will present the stages and provide critical steps to manage each phase.
3. Change Management in community groups
Change needs to be managed and conducted in the appropriate sequence to be successful. Many organisations embark on implementing a new organisational structure or a process yet do not succeed in setting it within the organisational culture. This workshop will teach you the eight fundamental steps required in implementing change.
