Meebunn-bia, Sunshine Coast

Located 1.5 hours west of the Gold Coast Meebunn-bia, pronounced MEE BUN BEA, is taken from the local Aboriginal inhabitants. It means "in the company of an eagle".  A reference to the majestic Wedge-tailed eagles which inhabit the lightly timbered country between Beaudesert and Rathdowney.  The Wedge-tailed Eagle or Eaglehawk (Aquila audax) is the largest raptor in Australia and is the most common of all the world's large eagles.  Other Australian animals that inhabit the area include kangaroos, wallabies, bandicoots, quolls and possums.

Join us for a weekend adventure at Meebunn-bia and help restore the local environment by removing lantana weed. Weed infestation in the region has a large impact, squeezing out native plant species and reducing important nesting and breeding grounds for local wildlife.

Volunteer Contribution: $150 per person

  • Volunteer contributions assist to cover costs associated with operating programs including transfers, project management, food and accommodation. 
  • Concession / student rate is as $110 per person

Pick up location: 9:00am CVA Brisbane Office, 102 McDonald Road (corner or Blackmore St and McDonald Road) Windsor.

Accommodation: Our bush camp at Meebunn-bia features small timber cabin accommodation (up to 4 people to a cabin).  Bathroom facilities are basic with separate male / female amenities, composting toilets and a basin (no shower).   Please bring a sleeping bag or bed linen.

What to bring: Clothes for outdoor work (long sleeved shirt and long pants or jeans) and wet weather clothing, sun protection including hat, sunscreen and long sleeved shirt, enclosed boots or shoes,  torch if available, water bottle, sleeping bag or bed linen and small day pack for your personal items.

Booking terms and conditions

Cancellation policy is effective upon a booking confirmation and subject to following fees:  

  • Cancellation more than 30 days before start date, 15% of the program cost will be forfeited
  • Cancellation 30 and 14 days before start date, 30% of the program cost will be forfeited
  • Cancellation less than 14 days before start date, 100% of the  program cost will be forfeited
  • There is no refund after starting the program
