Green Ribbon Program – 5th June

On June 5th, Conservation Volunteers invites you to celebrate World Environment Day and show your support by raising funds for the Green Ribbon Program.

Across the globe World Environment Day is celebrated in a variety of ways. In your workplace or home host an environmentally focused activity and encourage friends, family and work colleagues to help raise funds to support the environment.

As part of our commitment, Conservation Volunteers will plant a tree for every $5 donated through the Green Ribbon Program.

How To Celebrate Green Ribbon

Host a Green Morning Tea

  • Invite Green Morning Tea guests to wear green and donate to the Green Ribbon Program
  • Provide food or follow a recipe that is organic or includes locally grown or in season fruit or vegetables
  • Turn lights off or put your computer on standby while you attend a Green Morning Tea
  • Provide green coloured food, such as green apples, green lollies or spinach and cheese scones
  • Drink Green Tea or Green Cordial

Participate in a Ride to Work Day

  • You don't just have to get on your bike! Other options are to seek an alternative mode of transport such as train, tram, walk or even a car pool. Each of these options will reduce your carbon emissions and your actions will go a long way in supporting the environment.
  • Encourage family members and work colleagues to show their support and ride, walk or use public transport
  • Use the Carbon Calculator to work out the carbon emissions you generate at home and while traveling.

Have a Rubbish Free Lunch

  • Eliminate all rubbish from your lunch; this includes disposable plastic wrappers and disposable plastic containers. When rubbish is 'unavoidable' ensure that it is recyclable. And remember to put recyclables in the recycling bin!
  • Alternatives to disposable plastic wrappers and containers are small Tupperware containers, drink bottles or cloth lunch wrappers.
