Become part of a team of trained Volunteer Interpreters who help visitors at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve to better understand and appreciate the natural world.  Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve is a 40-minute drive from Canberra so this Program is only suitable for people who live in the ACT or surrounding area.

Volunteer Interpreters provide information to visitors at the Visitor Centre and along trails in the Sanctuary, a newly developed wetland area.

Benefits for the Volunteer Interpreter:

  • Develop new skills and knowledge
  • Share your passion for nature with others
  • Get behind the scenes at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve
  • Gain experience and a formal qualification (Certificate I in Active Volunteering)
  • Uniform & travel allowance
  • Discounts & social events
  • A rewards program for long service

What training is provided?

An ongoing training program aims to develop deep knowledge in a broad range of subjects including aspects of ecology, botany, zoology and geology.  Training in interpretive techniques will give Volunteer Interpreters the skills and confidence needed to communicate effectively.
