CAMP CHIVAREE ACCOMMODATION

Camp Chivaree provides a modern, waterfront bush camping experience. The camp wholly owned and operated by the Mapoon Aboriginal community is located at  Janie Creek, approximately 90 kilomotres from Weipa on the west coast of Cape York. Accommodation is in comfortable and spacious  tents sleeping a maximum of  two people. Tents are fitted with stretcher beds, deluxe mattresses, pillows, bedside table and lamp. The camp is extremely comfortable with common dining area, modern amenities, shares toilet (hybrid toilet) and shower facilities (bush shower, with hot water). Flinders Beach, where the research work is conducted, is just a short trip by dinghy and is an incredibly remote part of Australia’s magnificent coastline.
