CARNARVON STATION RESERVE

Journey through Central Queensland to the spectacular Australian Bush Heritage Fund's Carnarvon Station Reserve. Covering 59,000 hectares, the Reserve lies adjacent to Carnarvon Gorge National Park and comprises of 17 regional ecosystems, eight of which are listed as endangered or of concern. The property's grassy woodlands are some of the most extensive remaining in the region. Clearing of natural woodlands has reduced the number of many vulnerable species including the Bush Stone Curlew, the Glossy Black Cockatoo and Rufus Bettong. During the program you will participate in ecological fire regime mapping and stay at Carnarvon Station Reserve. You will also have the opportunity to experience outback central Queensland life, visit historical outback towns and explore Carnarvon Gorge National Park.
