Naturewise Eco Weekends
Chakola, Kangaroo Valley
Location: Kangaroo Valley
Departs: Wollongong
Join Conservation Volunteers for a spectacular south coast weekend and visit one of the region’s most spectacular waterfalls and some pristine coastline. All of this less than 2 hours from Wollongong University.
While you’re there, you will be able to help us make a difference in conserving our natural environment. You will also get the opportunity to enjoy the local sights - stroll along pristine beaches, enjoy rugged mountain views, local wildlife and cascading waterfalls, stop to explore local villages and stay overnight in a private sanctuary, Chakola, at the base of the beautiful Kangaroo Valley.
Chakola (Aboriginal word for Lyrebird). Chakola is an 80-acre wildlife refuge. On arrival you will be struck by the peace and quiet of this special nature retreat. Chakola is home to a number of iconic native Australian wildlife species, such as kangaroos, wallabies, bats, wombats, possums, and a resident lace monitor lizard. There is also a large variety of native birds including kookaburras, rainbow lorikeets, cockatoos, and of course lyrebird.
Your participation will make a positive difference to Australia’s environment.
