Wild Futures

Wild Futures is Conservation Volunteers' national wildlife conservation program.  As Australia's largest practical conservation organisation, we have the motivated volunteer force to make the difference our wildlife needs.

Our approach to helping the animals shown here is simple, but powerful.  For each wildlife species, we examine the Recovery Plans - expert documents that outline the actions required in order to give the species a fighting chance - and identify those actions where it makes sense for us to make a serious contribution.  Then we roll up our sleeves, find support, and make it happen.

This model, of creating volunteer-driven work plans from official Recovery Plans, may just be a world first!  More importantly, it means that the work we do is genuinely needed and scientifically verified.

To ensure that our Wild Futures work is always complementary to other Recovery Actions, we are in regular contact with each species' Recovery Team. In fact, some of our staff are members of these Teams.  For other species, such as Tasmanian Devils, we have been acknowledged by government as playing an important role in the conservation of the animals, and have been assigned a special status as part of their Recovery efforts.

The combination of our supporters, our volunteers and our close ties with Recovery Teams and government agencies provides us with a solid and informed foundation from which we will continue to work for the betterment of the Australian environment, with a special focus on wildlife through Wild Futures.

We invite you to join our supporters as together we make a difference to the long-term futures of wildlife around Australia.
