Help us to create a Wild Future for the Eastern Barred bandicoot.

Bandicoots are small, rabbit-sized marsupials with long, pointed noses.  Once common throughout southern and eastern Australia, the Eastern Barred bandicoot is now one of Victoria’s most endangered animals and is virtually extinct in the wild.

Threats from habitat loss, competition with rabbits and impacts from introduced predators such as foxes, cats and dogs have severely depleted this bandicoot species' numbers.

Just a handful of these animals remain in wild populations and it is only through re-establishing areas of natural bandicoot habitat, safety from introduced predators and captive breeding to allow reintroductions that will ensure the Eastern Barred bandicoot a Wild Future and long term survival.

Saving the Eastern Barred bandicoot is urgent, important and costly.  Our supporters and volunteers provide invaluable funding and assistance to make this happen.

By providing financial support or volunteering on one of our field projects, you can help give the Eastern Barred bandicoot a Wild Future too.
